Project Description
The Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) program has contributed $12+ billion to U.S. fish and wildlife conservation – more than any other conservation effort. In 2012, we will proudly observe 75 years of the WSFR program. We are planning a year-long, national anniversary program that will educate and strengthen partnerships between the product manufacturers, Federal and State fish, and wildlife agencies, and America’s anglers, boaters, shooters, and hunters for future success.

Results
The Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration program (WSFR) 75th Anniversary Planning Committee was a working group under the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) Fish and Wildlife Trust Funds Committee. It was co-chaired and co-staffed by AFWA and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Members were selected to represent not only Federal and State agencies but also the four industry trade groups and other conservation non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
In conclusion, a great deal was accomplished in 2012 in regard to celebrating the WSFR 75th Anniversary and educating a variety of people about the WSFR program including industry manufacturers, sportsmen and women, youth, legislators, and the public. The WSFR program has likely never received the amount of media attention that it did this year. Partnerships between USFWS, state fish and wildlife agencies, industry partners, and conservation NGOs were strengthened as everyone contributed and worked together on various activities, media, and events during the year.
