Working Grouo Charge:
· Increase coordination and consultation between the Departments of Interior and Agriculture with state fish and wildlife agencies, provide guidance on funding related to management of free-roaming equids on Federal lands, and affirm the role of state agencies regarding the management of free-roaming equids.
· Provide a forum for the exchange of information among the conservation and wildlife management community and its stakeholders about the ecological impacts of free-roaming equids on flora and fauna, including by promoting and facilitating coordinated research, education, and outreach actions to increase public awareness and engagement in collaborative efforts to manage free-roaming equids.
· Identify knowledge gaps in biological, ecological, and social sciences needed to inform sustainable management of free-roaming equids and provide science-based information to public stakeholders, Congress, and administrators regarding practices to achieve sustainable management of free-roaming equids.
· Provide recommendations and action items to the AFWA Federal and Public Lands Committee for their consideration and potential actions by the Directors at their Business Meetings.
