Nebraska’s Rex Amack Assumes Role as 2008-2009 President of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies
Nebraska Games and Parks Director, Rex Amack, to champion the issues of hunter and angler recruitment and connecting children and nature during his term
WASHINGTON -- The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies named Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Director, Rex Amack, its new president during the Association’s recent Annual Meeting in Saratoga Springs, New York. Amack has 41 years of experience with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and 2l years as the Commission's director.
"It is an overwhelming privilege and honor to serve as president of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. I look forward to representing every fish and wildlife agency in the country and many in Canada and Mexico assuring that the mission of the Association is fulfilled," Amack said.
Amack currently serves on the Association’s Executive, Audit, and Fish and Wildlife Trust Funds Committees. During his one-year tenure as president, he plans to pay particular attention to the work of the Association membership in enhancing public understanding and appreciation of fish and wildlife management and conservation especially as it relates to hunter and angler recruitment and retention as well as connecting young people with nature.
The Washington, DC-based Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is the collective voice of North America’s fish and wildlife agencies at every level of government. The Association provides its member agencies and their senior staff with coordination services that range from migratory birds, fish habitat, and invasive species, to conservation education, leadership development, and international relations. The Association represents its state agency members on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key conservation and management policies, and works to ensure that all fish and wildlife entities work collaboratively on the most important issues.
Amack will serve as president through September 2009.
