Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Names New Resource Director
Washington (April 4, 2007) - The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies announced today that Ron Regan will be joining its staff as Resource Director. Regan, currently the Wildlife Director of the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department (VFWD), fills a position vacated in February when Eric Schwaab was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Regan will join the staff on May 14.
"I look forward to working with North America 's fish and wildlife agencies, conservation partners and the incredible staff of the Association," said Regan. "I hold the Association -its history of accomplishment and its mission - in very high esteem."
Regan has more than 25 years working in wildlife management and conservation in the state of Vermont . In 1999, he was appointed Commissioner of the VFWD, a position he held for four years (two terms). Regan has since worked as Director of Operations and Director of Wildlife for the VFWD. During his time with VFWD, Regan gained extensive state and national experience working with state legislators, Congressional delegations and staff, appointed officials in the Executive branches of state and federal government, and a broad variety of non-governmental organizations, including many that are based in Washington , D.C.
Regan is an active member of both The Wildlife Society and the Atlantic Flyway Council. Regan also has a long history of working with the Association, including service as Chair of the Teaming with Wildlife Committee, Vice-Chair of the Wildlife Resources Policy Committee; and a member of the Leadership and Professional Development Committee.
Regan notably served as Vice-Chair of the National Advisory Acceptance Team, where he helped review and approve the 56 state wildlife action plans.
