AWARE Foundation Small Grant Opportunities for 2006

The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (Association) is soliciting proposals for conservation education projects to be funded through its 2006 Educational Funding Grant Program. The Association annually awards 4-6 grants in support of educational efforts that address the needs of wildlife management, associated recreation, and other closely related issues. Based on the recommendations of the Education Funding Working Group, the Association's membership approves the projects to be funded during its business meeting in September, 2006. There is $15,000 available for grants for the current funding cycle; with average awards around $3,000 to $5,000.  All applicants will be notified by October 1, 2006, and funds will be disbursed upon project completion and not later than December 31, 2007.

Proposal Guidelines
Proposals should be 5 pages or less, have one inch margins, and at least an 11 font size.  Please include the following information in your proposal:

•  Contact Information – name of organization, contact person, complete address, telephone number, and email address;

•  Project Title – brief;

•  Project Objectives;

•  Need and Expected Benefits – describe the need for the project as well as the geographic scope and the expected results and benefits;

•  Approach – explain how the project will be conducted;

•  Expected Deliverables and Outcomes; and

•  Budget – see Attachment A for recommended format.

All applications must be received no later than Friday, August 4, 2006 . Proposals must be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect format.  Please submit proposals, along with additional inquiries, to Nancy Herron at Nancy.herron@tpwd.state.tx.us or 512/389-4362 . 

Evaluation Criteria
Proposals are reviewed and ranked by the Educational Funding Working Group of the Association's Education, Outreach, and Diversity Committee, which is composed of State fish and wildlife agency personnel and nongovernmental organizations. The Working Group will evaluate all proposals using the criteria described in Attachment B , which include: (1) Size of geographic impact; (2) Importance of and immediate need for project; (3) Time required for implementation and sustainability of benefits; (4) Appropriateness of target audience; (5) Cost and proportion of cost provided by non-Association partners; and (6) Project need, uniqueness, and priority. 

Grant Agreement and Reporting
Successful recipients will be asked to enter into a grant agreement with the Association of Fish of Wildlife Agencies. The Association will disburse award grant funds upon receiving an invoice accompanied with written documentation of project completion before December 31, 2007. However, due to lack of sufficient funds, there was no grant program in 2005.
