Mobilizing America's 7.5 Million Avid Anglers to “Take Someone Fishing”

The Anglers' Legacy Program, developed by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, was designed to promote first-time fishing experiences by encouraging avid anglers to share their passion and take someone new fishing. The campaign is supported by over 50 industry leaders, 44 of the most read endemic publications, including Field and Stream and Outdoor Life, over 200 pros and celebrities, and hundreds of clubs and organizations.

At the Annual Meeting in September, AFWA announced its support as AFWA president John Cooper gave the campaign a ringing endorsement.

Take advantage of the campaign and leverage your media outlets to grow participation:

•  Utilize the creative in your state magazine and license regulation guide to encourage anglers to bring someone new into the sport. Creative is readily available with regional and species-specific executions on RBFF.org .

•  Promote the campaign on your TV and radio shows. Every avid in your state is tuned in - call on them to grow the sport!

•  Connect to the cause at AnglersLegacy.org . Link to AnglersLegacy.org from your agency's website - encourage your avid anglers to take The Pledge and get involved!

•  Make sure to promote in-house as well! Your staff enjoys the outdoors as much as the people you serve – get them to lead by example and take someone they know fishing for the first time!
